Temper Me

When the water rises, flooding the canyon with nourishment, I open my pores to absorb the flowing liquid, hydrating every cell with plentitude. When the water recedes, exposing the once submerged earth, I lay my body on the canyon bottom, letting the sun scorch my skin and the rocky soil. Flood or drought, feast or famine, let it all fall upon me. Temper me into you.
